Description

This special edition IDEAS for Learning Newsletter reached the faculty of Emerson College on May 11th, 2026. This is the first and only published issue of May 2026. This is the sixteenth issue of the third volume. It includes various AI topics and was created with the help of Brooke Knight. It opens with a letter from Brooke to the faculty with quick access to resources: a course AI policies guide, AI training videos, and a list of campus partners. The first story in the newsletter encourages faculty to set some sort of AI guidelines in their classroom and to remind students about disclosing when they are using AI. It has a guide attached on AI disclosure and citation. The following two pieces are under a section called, “Brooke’s AI Advice”, and includes stories like: Faculty should try to use AI on assignments first before assigning work and also try reimagining assignments as they formulate their syllabi in the summer. The next section of the newsletter contains examples of faculty using AI at Emerson. It spotlights faculty Amy Rinaldo, David Kelleher, and Raquel Pidal with quotes about their experiences. After that piece, there is an opportunity for faculty to apply to the 2026–27 AAC&U Institute on AI, Pedagogy, and the Curriculum. Included beneath that is a piece on AI and the environment, and at the bottom of the newsletter is a poll design of our programming for AY 26-27 and a reminder about Course Design Spa which will be happening in August 2026.
